— What Is Funetics?

Fun First. Skills for Life.

Created by England Athletics, funetics is a fun and inclusive kids athletics programme that helps 4 to 11-year-old children across the country learn, develop and practise running, jumping and throwing all year round, for a healthy, confident future.

Helping children have fun while getting active, funetics provides a safe, fun and nurturing environment for children to develop fundamental movement skills and the confidence to support them in different sports in the future.

England Athletics' vision

For every primary school aged child in the country to be able to access funetics sessions, learning the fundamental movement skills of running, throwing and jumping through a trackable, physical literacy-based course.

— Parents' Questions

Good to Know

Does my child need any athletics experience?

Not at all. Funetics is designed for complete beginners as well as children who already love sport.

Which session should we choose?

Tuesdays are fun, games-based sessions for all ages, a great place to start. Saturdays are more technical and split by age (4–7 and 8+), so they suit children who want to build on what they've learned. Plenty of children do both.

What should they wear and bring?

Comfortable sports clothes, trainers and a water bottle. On colder days, layers they can take off as they warm up.

Can parents stay and watch?

Yes, parents are welcome to stay and watch. You can also drop off and collect if you prefer.

Do sessions run in the school holidays?

Sessions currently run in school term time only. This term's last session is Saturday 19 December, and we'll be back in the new year. Holiday camps are on the way, and we'll confirm dates here as soon as they're set.

What if we can't make a session?

Refunds or credits aren't normally given for single sessions missed through holidays, other commitments or short-term illness. Full refunds are available if you cancel a block booking at least seven days before it starts, and we'll always consider longer-term injury or illness. If you need more flexibility, you can book week by week instead. See our refund policy for full details.

Are the coaches DBS checked?

Yes. All of our coaches are DBS checked and Funetics trained, and first aid is available on site.

I've got another question.
